Furniture Pickup and Recycling | FAQ

1. What do you do with my old mattress and furniture?

We take all of your mattresses and furniture apart and sort it for recycling.

2. Do you accept box springs too?

Yes, we recycle box springs too.

3. What days and hours are you open?

We’re open 7 days a week, except for stat holidays, from 9 am to 5 pm. Just back your vehicle to our loading dock and our staff will help you unload your items for recycling.

4. Is the recycling fee the same for any mattress size?

Yes, our $20 fee applies to all mattresses and box springs of every size except for crib mattresses, which are only $5 each. GST is included in the price (that’s a 5% discount each time) when you make a drop-off at our facility. GST is added to our fees if we’re picking up your mattress from your place.

5. Is my futon a mattress or a sofa bed?

A futon, whether it’s flat for a bed or bent in half for a couch, is still a mattress to us. If the frame is metal, we recycle that for free. If the frame is wood, it is only $20 more to take it off your hands too. Futons must be kept dry to be recycled.

6. Is the recycling fee the same for all my furniture?

Our fees vary according to the size and how complicated your furniture is. Armchairs are $20, loveseats and recliners $25, couches $30, and sofabed and sectionals without reclining parts) are $45. Furniture with reclining parts are $45, and sectionals with reclining seats and/or beds inside them cost $65+ to recycle.

We can also recycle your old computer, office or desk chair for $10! GST is included in the price when you drop your furniture off at our facility. GST is added to our fees if we pick them up from your house.

7. My mattress got really wet outside in the rain. Can you still recycle it?

Yes, we can still recycle it, but the soaked parts of the mattress may have to be landfilled. The drier the mattress the better. If the mattress is completely saturated with water, mouldy, and/or rusty, we reserve the right to reject your mattress for recycling. If it’s just a little wet, then it should be fine.

Note that we do not accept wet futons or foam mattresses.

8. My couch got really wet sitting out in the rain. Can you still recycle it?

Unfortunately, no. For now, we cannot recycle wet furniture. We accept furniture that are a little bit dirty or old, but not wet. Keep your furniture dry if you want to keep it out of the landfill.

9. Do I have to bring my mattress/furniture to you or can you arrange transportation for me?

Whatever works best for you — you can drive it over to our facility just off the Alex Fraser Bridge on Annacis Island, or book a pickup with us. We recommend booking a pickup service for residential customers and small commercial loads, so we can help you get your old mattresses/furniture off your hands. We pickup in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. But first, you should check if your city offers mattress collection services for detached-home residents.

If you’re a larger commercial or hotel client and need help arranging transportation for more volume than what our regular pickup services offer, we’d love to assist you! Please contact us using our online form, or by calling us at 604-777-0324 Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 5pm.

We can offer some fantastic freight rates and service regions like Whistler and Vancouver Island!

10. What areas do you pickup from?

Our regular pickup service covers Vancouver and the Lower Mainland region. This includes Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey, New West, Langley, Abbotsford, Pitt Meadows, and Maple Ridge. We also pick up in the North Shore from North Vancouver and West Vancouver.

11. How much do you charge for a pickup?

$80 pickup + recycling fees for 1 to 2 items (excluding sofabeds)

$90 pickup + recycling fees for 3 – 4 items (or 1 sofabed)

$100 pickup + recycling fees for 5 or more items

$110 pickup + recycling fees for 1 Adjustable/electric/medical bed

Note that we do charge a FSC (Fuel Surcharge) for pickups in North and West Van, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Mission, Port Coquitlam, and Tsawwassen.

12. What form of payment do you take?

Drop-offs: cash only except for commercial clients. Commercial clients can request in advance to pay by cheque, e-transfer, or to open an account for monthly billing.

Pickups: our drivers accept cash or cheque. Soon customers can pre-pay their for their pickup service through Paypal and other payment options.

13. Will the drivers move my old bed and furniture out, or do I have to take it to the curb?

Our drivers will do the heavy lifting for you from your home! Let our drivers help you lift your furniture and bed to their truck for you. If you’d like to make the process easier for us, place your item to your front door, carport, deck, lobby, or somewhere where it is easily accessible. If you aren’t able to do that please clear a path in your home for the drivers to move the furniture/mattress through your front door.

If it’s a particularly hard or time-consuming move, like squeezing a king-size mattress down two flights of stairs, please consider tipping the driver for their extra service.

14. My mattress or furniture is in good condition – could you donate it to charity?

A lot of companies claim to donate or even recycle the furniture they collect, but if you’ve ever been to a transfer station or landfill, you’d just see how much furniture is taken to the dump by these companies. The truth is, not many charities accept used beds or furniture in Metro Vancouver. If they do, they’re selective, and for a good reason.

There is almost zero demand for used beds. Most furniture people dispose of do not meet today’s standard for reuse by charities.

For that reason, we recycle all beds and furniture that come through our doors. On the rare occasion, we receive furniture that is suitable for reuse, we do make the effort to donate it to someone in need. When it’s not possible, we keep the furniture out of landfills by breaking it down and salvaging the parts.

15. We are the only true furniture recyclers in Western Canada. We never throw away furniture we accept for processing or dismantling.

Commercial accounts can request and receive Certificates of Destruction from us.

16. We had bedbugs. Will you still recycle our mattresses?

Yes and no.

If your mattress was successfully chemically treated and sealed in plastic bags, and the bed bugs are dead, then yes we can process the mattress.

Please let us know because special handling is required.

17. Do you recycle metal too?

Absolutely! Send us anything metal you need cleared out, including but not limited to: bed frames, shelves, filing cabinets, metal appliances (except fridges), barecues, bikes, furniture, pots, etc. Metal items dropped off at our facility are accepted free of charge. If we pick up  metal items, then there is an additional $45 handling charge.

18. Can you provide references?

Absolutely – please visit our testimonials page on our main website to see what our clients are saying about us. Also, take a look at our Google Business reviews, and the Recommendations on our Facebook page!

We’re proud of our great reputation and work hard to maintain it.

19. Is there a maximum number of mattresses we can send to you for recycling?

No, no minimum or maximum. No surcharge for large quantities either – in fact, we encourage them.

20. Do we need to make a drop-off appointment?

No, appointments are not needed for drop-offs at our warehouse. However, we appreciate advance notice of commercial shipments, especially large ones. It makes for a smooth process for everyone.

21. Do I have to be there when my mattress and furniture are picked up?

No, as long as we have access to the item(s) and the payment has been made. If that’s the case, you don’t have to be around when we come by!
